Who has referred you to Manchester Dental Specialists?
You will have been referred to Manchester Dental Specialists by either your dentist, doctor, another specialist or consultant for advanced or complex treatment that is out of the remit of the referring clinician or for which the essential equipment is not readily available. This will have been discussed with you first before the referral was made.

How has it happened?
The referral will have been made sometimes by telephone in urgent cases but more usually by letter. This means that any relevant x-rays or models of your teeth can also be sent to us.

Who will deal with your referral?
At Manchester Dental Specialists we have staff dedicated to the management of the service. The staff who deal with the initial referral will also be those who contact you to arrange the appointments and deal with any queries you might have. They will also be the people you will meet when you attend and who will be in surgery with you.

Who will arrange the appointment and contact you?
Once we have received the referral one of our staff will get in touch with you to arrange an appointment. If you need to contact us call 0161 924 0335. If the phone is not answered there is a dedicated answer-phone where you can leave a message. Leave your name and a contact number and we will get back to you directly.

What will happen at your first visit?
The first visit is usually for a consultation and to discuss your treatment needs. In some instances, however, such as some surgical or root canal procedures the treatment will be carried out at this first visit. You will be made aware of what will happen before you attend.

Will you get a report?
Yes. You will get a personal written report outlining the treatment options available for your individual case and you will have the chance to discuss it with your family or referring dentist should you so wish.

Can you think about it before committing yourself?
You will never be committed to treatment unless you are totally happy with all aspects of the proposals.

What will the charges be?
Consultation charges range from £120 to £145 if an x-ray is required. Your treatment charges will be forwarded to you with your report. Sometimes it is not possible to be completely definitive about charges until the treatment is underway but you will always be kept fully informed. Please click here to see our Fee Guide.

How can you pay?
Payment can be made in cash, by cheque or by credit card. We also have finance available which is interest free if spread over a period of 6 months to 2 years. If spread over a period of 3 to 5 years low cost finance is available. Conditions apply. Please ask for more details.

What do you do if you need to rearrange or cancel an appointment and will there be a fee?
Contact our Specialist line on 0161 924 0335 and speak to one of our staff or leave a message and we will get back to you. There may be a cancellation fee, which will be based pro rata upon the appointment booked if there is less than 24 hours notice, unless there are unusual circumstances.

What will happen after your treatment is complete?
You will have been referred to us for a specific item or course of treatment. After this is complete we will return your care to your usual practitioner. We might want to keep in touch with you for short or long term reviews of your treatment but we will discuss this with you at the time.
